Dr. Fears to speak on Magna Carta

By Brandon McWaters · Fri, Sep 02, 2011 09:26 AM CDT
Dr. Fears and Constitution Day

In a partisan political climate concerned with poll numbers, televised debates, rhetoric, and the like, it’s easy to forget about the foundation of both our government and our freedoms: the Constitution.

OCPA Distinguished Fellow J. Rufus Fears, a classics professor at the University of Oklahoma, is a strong advocate of freedom and believes that looking to history for lessons learned is essential if freedom is be maintained.

On September 19, Dr. Fears will be giving a speech entitled “The Magna Carta: Our First Constitution.” The occasion is the Constitution Day celebration at Oklahoma Christian University, hosted by the Academy for Leadership and Liberty, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and OCPA. This will be the last in a series of three lectures given throughout the day at Oklahoma Christian and will be held at 11:30. Lunch will be provided to OCPA members and members of The 1787 Society. For more information, please visit the Academy’s website.
