School Choice Fair

The Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs and Americans for Prosperity Foundation in association with the Friedman Foundation for Educational Choice sponosored a School Choice Fair held at the OKC Zoo on July 31, 2009 from 9am to noon.

The objectives of the event were to educate the public and families on school choice with educational research material; provide the opportunity for private schools, magnet schools, charter schools, and home school groups to give information to families visiting the zoo; and to broaden the scope and benefits of school choice to those who do not know what options to pursue.

We invited schools to set up a booth to display information about their school. To reserve a booth at the School Choice Fair a $25 fee was required.  Two admission tickets were given for representatives of each booth.  Each booth set up a small game with prizes for children that came to the fair.

For the public, free child tickets were available to the first 300 children accompanied by parents.  Once inside the zoo, booths were setup to represent each school or organization present.
