OCPA Fellow Calls on Oklahoma Bar Association President to Resign

This morning on The Trent England Show, host Trent England called comments by Oklahoma Bar Association President Garvin Isaacs “outrageous” and called (at 1:12:30) on him to resign. Isaacs had attacked Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt upon learning President-elect Donald Trump will nominate Pruitt to lead the EPA. A report in The New Yorker quoted Isaacs' attack on the popular state official: “It’s the worst thing in the history of our environment! We are in danger. The whole country is in danger.”

In a further statement, England reiterated his call for Isaacs’ resignation. “Oklahoma attorneys deserve better, more responsible leadership than Garvin Isaacs has shown. By going out of his way to run down a popular fellow Oklahoma lawyer, Isaacs has used his position to politicize the Bar, needlessly so.”

“Isaacs is Exhibit A for why the legislature should reconsider the Bar Association’s role in licensing attorneys and selecting judges,” England said. “Nearly two-thirds of Oklahomans voted for Pruitt in 2010, and no one even filed to run against him in 2014. Garvin Isaacs isn’t fit to carry Scott Pruitt’s briefcase.”
