Federal grants to Oklahoma are numerous
In an article in the September issue of Perspective, we examine all the federal aid flowing into Oklahoma and discuss some of the unintended consequences of accepting this “free” money from Uncle Sam. The list of federal agencies doling out aid to Oklahoma is so long—are there no limits to what the federal government can do?—that it wouldn’t fit in the pages of Perspective. So here it is in all its glory.
Here’s the takeaway: The key to freeing Oklahoma from federal dependency is to get a handle on the state’s Medicaid program. Doing so will reduce the “crowding out” of the private sector by the public sector—and a larger private sector will result in greater economic prosperity.
