OCPA in the Edmond Sun: Oklahomans deserve preschool choices

February 18, 2013

In his State of the Union address last week, President Obama lauded Oklahoma’s commitment to state-funded preschool programs. But many scholars—Harvard Business School professor Clayton M. Christensen, Brookings Institution senior fellow Grover Whitehurst, Heritage Foundation research fellow Lindsey Burke, and others—are unconvinced by the evidence that universal pre-K is a good public investment. (Some of them have even had the audacity to point out that Oklahoma's 4th grade reading scores have declined since we implemented universal government preschool.)

For those of you disinclined to heed policy prescriptions from a president who is “fundamentally transforming the United States of America,” I offer some alternatives more in keeping with Oklahoma values. I urge you to read my Edmond Sun column here.
