Statement regarding House Bill 2406

Jonathan Small

Jonathan Small, president of the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs, issued the following statement today regarding House Bill 2406:

"Based on our review, this legislation does not appear to authorize or open the door for any expansion of Medicaid eligibility in Oklahoma. This is not a comment on the merits of the bill, only that it does not appear to authorize Medicaid expansion.

"We are thankful that the majority of state lawmakers in Oklahoma have continually maintained their vigilance against any voluntary aspects of Obamacare, including the ACA Medicaid expansion. Despite years of unrelenting pressure, they have stood firm, and they have been proven correct for doing so."
